Denis Jacques was born in 1954 in Shawinigan, Québec, Canada. A Self-taught
artist with a prodigious talent, he is mainly known for his realistic portraits. His
portraits, while highly realistic, dwell in a fantastic world of dreams and
mythology. Jacques paintings are glazed with a glossy varnish similar to
those used by Italian Masters such as Titian.
Jacques founded the St. Anne Street Artist Association and is president of the
Figurative Arts Institute of the province of Quebec. He has won numerous
contests and prizes. Jacques work is also part of many public and corporate
collections worldwide. He recently completed a portrait of the President of the
Quebec Assembly.
