Richard Salcido was born in San Diego, California, in 1976.  After completing his BFA at the Laguna College of Art and Design, he continued his employment at the Laguna Art Museum while painting in his free time.    Salcido currently lives and works in San Diego.

Salcido’s work is both pure and fresh, and the art is innate for him.  Salcido’s work comes directly from within himself with little outside influence.  Whether it comes to be from a daydream, an emotion or simply a brief thought, his imagery reflects nothing other than his own artistic realization and fulfillment. 

Paralleling most non-objective abstract painters, he leaves even his distinct images without any existing weight.  It is for the viewer alone to have their own personal relationship with each work.

In the words of the artist:

“My work to me is very important: I try to get the best finished product possible for that day. I know the enjoyment I get out of my own work and I want it to be shared with others.  This is my artistic goal.”
